Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also performs music. She received the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and the first female to receive it. In addition to the nine Grammy awards She was also the first Indian-born musician to present at and perform in the live ceremony. Anoushka is the emerging star of Indian sitar. She is a scholar and daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. Her early years were split in London as well as New Delhi. At the age of 13 the first time she performed at New Delhi took place. In 1999, she completed her high schooling in Encinitas CA. The career of Anouskha as a performer and recorder is remarkable, even at her youth. She is often seen performing with her dad and has been doing so for many years. In 1998 she released her first solo album Anourag. She released the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year after. She has performed at most major venues around the globe. Her career extends beyond music. She also published Bapi The Love of My Life in 2002. It is a biographical work that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she starred in Dance Like a Man as a Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shakar's professional career will continue to grow and grow. It is possible to look at seeing lots of interesting things coming from her. Anoushka lived a long time between London and Delhi in her early years. Then, she relocated to California to finish high school. She started learning to play the guitar when she was nine years old and played the sitar for the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi four years later. As a part of her dad's band as he toured the world Anoushka racked up a wealth of performances on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and making recordings alongside George Harrison. To honor her position as a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was given the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
